Happy Easter!
I want to acknowledge this day for Christian's around the world who
celebrate the anniversary of Jesus Christ's victory over death at the cross.
His death and resurrection represent the promise of God's forgiveness of
sins and our Eternal salvation.
A Beautiful Gift Of Grace Taken By Faith
Amen
Expectations
I hope today Everyone enjoys their families and their Easter festivities. Let's
do it completely clean and sober!
Now remember let's not place to high expectations on this day.
We are powerless over other's behavior and that includes those of us with
children. Some of us may be in early sobriety and our children may not have
exactly come around to forgiving us yet.
Especially our tweens.
Let's not react in a negative way, hurt their feelings or use this as an excuse
to go use if they do not respond the way we want them to, to our Easter festivities.
Because they may not.
We have put out families through a lot and we have to understand that they
are healing as well and our kids may still be confused. This is from my own
experience . Also Husbands, wives, parents etc. It's going to take time.
Now I try to have an "It is what it is attitude" rather than trying to force my
new sober self on people trying to make up for lost time. It just doesn't
work that way. They may not be ready for that.
So let's just let things happen and practice acceptance today.
Will other people be drinking today at their Easter Celebrations??
Perhaps
So we need a plan. If we are going somewhere for dinner, we can bring our
own beverage such as seltzer water or cranberry juice, I just let the hostess
know in advance that I am not drinking. So she just fills my glass with seltzer
water or juice etc.
That way she won't ask me, which would give others an opportunity to make a
big deal out of it asking me why I am not drinking.
If others do ask I just tell them I choose not to drink today. We do not
need to explain ourselves.
Let's make this a holiday we can remember with no regrets. One in which we
can make new memories with our loved ones!
Have no plans today? Please don't feel bad. I don't have any plans either.
The kids are grown, no eggs to hide, no baskets to fill. Family is out of town
and that's ok.
I have a bag of malted milk speckled eggs and a world of friends right here
and so do you.
If you feel alone on this day you know we will be here 24/7 at SR.
Please reach out!
Happy Easter Everyone!
Make the right choice today! Are You In ?

Good Morning and Happy Easter to everyone. As the sun rises over the Piney Woods of East Texas I am reminded of how special this day is. It is 6:46 and I am in for another 24 sober hours please. Thank you Jesus for all you have done for us today.
Signing in for 24 more, 8:00am on Easter Sunday. I'm awake before my kids, even after being the easter bunny until the wee hours...enjoying the peace and quiet of this morning. Feeling very grateful for my sobriety today (and for SR and the people here who have helped me). Happy Easter.
