I missed the election.

I have my front door open today. Whoopie!! It warm today. It's warm today.

Gonna watch the movie "Tin Man" this afternoon on Sci-Fi. It's their version of the "Wizard of OZ" Anyone ever see it? Just wondering if it's worth 4 hours of my time this afternoon. LOL

The concert was awesome! But I sure am tired. It is harder to recuperate at 41 than it was at 21. But it was worth it!

The lady in the row ahead of us passed out and had to be taken to the ER. That would have been me if I was still using/drinking. She missed the WHOLE thing!

Pics of the concert are up on FB if anyone wants to look.

Yay, K's letting me do an absentee vote. LOL

I vote for the snakes. Only cause if I was on the plane I could just see people really flipping out.

Glad you had fun at the concert Tanya. I haven't been to any concerts in a few years. I don't go anymore. I'm afraid of someone bumping into my bad arm.

Well, have a good day everyone. Gonna check out that movie and see if it's any good.

My boss just gave all us girls a cedar plank and a recipe for plank-grilled ground sirloin burger - with blue cheese and mushrooms. They look awesome!
Anyone interested, let me know and I'll post the recipe here. It's BBQ time!

Hickory-Planked Sirloin Burgers with Blue Cheese

It doesn't matter how you top your burgers, the point is that you enjoy them. For this recipe we use med to lean ground sirloin steak, seasoned just right and then topped with chunky blue cheese and sauteed mushrooms and sweet onions. For planking burgers a leaner meat is best. It reduces the chances of flare-ups from the burger grease and igniting your plank. Have the burgers your way: if you don't like blue cheese, try goat cheese or cheddar cheese; if you are not a fan of mushrooms or onions, try grilled sweet peppers and avocado; or, if you want to be completely off the wall, try them with peanut butter, pepper jack cheese and bacon.

1 regular hickory plank, soaked in beer/water mixture
2 lb ground sirloin beef
2 tbsp plank-roasted garlic or 4 cloves minced marlic (plank-roasting the garlic provides a sweeter garlic flavour than raw garlic, which tends to be sharp)
1 small onion, finely diced
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tbsp Bonedust BBQ seasoning
1 1/2 cups dark full-bodied beer
1/4 cup olive oil
4 cups button mushroom, quartered
1 large spanish onion, sliced
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 cup blue cheese, crumbled
1 bunch arugular, washed
1 large ripe tomato, sliced
4 multigrain hamburger buns or rolls

In a large bowl, combine ground sirloin, plank-roasted garlic, onion, worcestershire sauce, parsley, mustard, and bonedust bbq seasoning. mix well to incorporate.

Remove burger meat mixture from fridge and form into 8 hambugers, each about 1 in. thick and 4 in. in diameter. Transfer to a cookie sheet, cover and refrigerate for 1 hour to allow meat to rest before planking.

Prehill grill to medium-high.

Evenly space burgers on plank, place plank on grill, and close lid. Plank-grill burgers for 15-20 minutes until burgers are fully cooked.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a large fry pan until just starts to smoke. Add mushrooms and saute for 3-5 mins stirrling occasionally until they are tender and lightly coloured. Add onion to pan and continue to saute, stirring occasionally for another 3-5 mins until onion is tender. Season with salt and papper. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Add crumbled blue cheese to onion mushroom mixture and gently toss. Just before burgers are finished cooking, sppon equal amounts of mushroom mixture over top of each burger. Close grill lid and continue to cook burgers for another 2-3 mins until cheese starts to melt.

Slice burger buns in half and lightly toast buns on the grill. Serve each burger on a half bun with fresh arugula and sliced tomatoes.

Sorry for any spelling errors I'm late for a dr. appt. Talk soon!

Wait..you soak the (plank) in beer..right? Even with almost 3 years..I don't trust myself

around it alone. Strange..I didn't really know this until right now.

That's weird.

you can skip the beer part

it sounds great! we make a similar one that adds spinich instead of mushrooms. worth the extra steps...

my mom and a few of her friends are coming through my town tomorrow on their way home from a train trip out east. they have about a 5 hour layover. i've gotta come up with somefin to do with them. prolly food and shopping, that's what they mostly like.

i bet they'll all have vertigo after an all night train ride, my mom certainly will anyway. and from what i understand, 3 of them have lost false teeth this week. lol! note to self - no tall buildings, escalators, elevators and only soft foods. that narrows it down quite a bit.

I will make a few when I get back. But I have Swiss cheese.

If I can't wait..I'll fry up a rib steak..that will do too.

Either way..bases are covered.

Hey..talking about food makes you feel less hungry..ever noticed this?

Laters.

lol! i'm getting ready to talk about food with my mom-in-law. we're having a bday party for her in a week and although i have planned an excellent menu (tropical style) - she and my sis-in-law insist on stopping by to pick my plan it to death.

i just don't understand why people don't just do what i tell them to do. it would make life soooooooooo much easier
