Really, Oregon huh? It is quite beautiful here (and in Seattle) but the weather is rainy and gray a lot of the time. Portland and Seattle have a lot of drug addiction because the cops go easy on the homeless kids that come here for the moderate winters and end up staying for the drugs.
No, no, the people in Stephen Fry's visit to Seattle think there is a general air of melancholy over Seattle (contributing to the suicide rate) coz of the weather.
We have shite weather and we're the life and soul, aren't we??
Lets see what happens with fanny (it means bottom in the US doesn't it). And they don't know what bollocks is over there - I saw a discussion on another thread.

Well, not me, no!! But people do pronounce "bottle" like "bowl". It's the inability to say the letter T. If we combined your english with our english, we wouldn't have the word "the" at all.
Let's go down the chippy = Let's go down t'chippy = Let's go down chippy.

See, told you!! Literally, it means balls - the sort you find on men. But you can use it in a variety of colourful ways:
I'm bollocksed (I'm loaded/trashed/drunk/stoned)

So endeth the lesson.

The English language must seem pretty confusing to some people, one word can mean so many things.
