people, places and things
people, places and things
I know first hand how important it is to stay away from these things, and I had quite the reminder today. I ran into someone that I used to use with. Actually, we were at court, and as much as I wanted to run away, I didn't have a choice. I told her that I don't get high anymore, and she said that's great. She was asking me how I did it and my skin was just crawling. I just saw her as a big line of coke. My stomach started turning, and I just prayed. I got done before her, thank you God, and made smoke trails outta there. It really sparked up some serious cravings, but my desire to stay clean is stronger than my desire to use. Once again, thank you God. I'm going to a meeting at 8, and I plan on staying close to my sober support!
Good for you, Sherbear! it just proves a point that stopping the using is only part of recovery. We must also avoid the people, places and triggers that caused us to use in the past. Do you know how strong and healthy you sound? That is so wondeful that you recognized that she triggered the urge to use and you have made a plan to attend a meeting tonight!
Keep it up and keep posting!
