Sober again, so much for controlled drinking. I went out and tried, same result.

It just always gets away from me and I end up sick shaky and morning drinking.

Damb.

Sometimes that's what we need to make us realize we must stop.

What's next Alex?

Maybe I will goto school for substance abuse counseling certification, rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly worked for the treatment center industry as well.

I would like to work with people messed up by psych meds and help them recover like I did.

There is a huge population of people who were caught up in the heyday of diagnosis like pediatric/teen bipolar or became addicts after taking ADHD meds as kids and moved on to methamphetamine.

Its kind of pie in the sky thinking right now but its a goal.

You got that line mixed up a bit ....
Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path.

Goals are good ..... yours sounds like a long-term goal.
How about a short-term goal of staying sober?
That would be a good first step to your long-term goal.

that's what I was thinking

before we get working in the field

helps to know what we are teaching

sobriety would come in #1 thing desired for a counseling position

plenty more after that

Wow...I know a lot of people who got into the "field" because they had their own issues to work out, but know a lot of people in the "field" who are raging addicts too.

Not suggesting this applies to you, but addiction/codependency often go hand in hand, and sometimes we think we can fix or hide our own issues by helping others with theirs. We all still have to do our own work. I speak from personal experience, heck, I LIVING it as we speak, so the lesson is hitting home hard.

Alex, so glad to hear you're sober again. Staying sober truly is easier in the end than trying drinking "one more time"
