I'm glad summer is finally here!!!!

I feel so alive in the summer. These winters here are too long and depressing. Although there is snow on the ground in shady areas and it's still frozen six inches down I declare summer is here. I've been walking around my yard all day trimming trees and thinking about all the neat stuff I can do with landscaping. I really enjoy being a homeowner. It's a lot of work sometimes but it's worth it.

I even shot my first squirrel of the year. :uzi2: I have to keep the population down or they get into everything. My dog gets sooo wound up when I start shooting. She runs circles around the tree until the squirrel hits the ground then she proudly picks it up like its a trophy or something. She thinks she is quite the hunter.

A good day it was. How was your day?

Re: I'm glad summer is finally here!!!!

It was actually kind of hot today! You need to come down here. At least for the winters. Of course, the increase in my Zoloft is making me hot & sweaty anyway, but I swear it really was warm here today.

I hope that the longer days will help with this depression as the tanning doesn't seem to be doing the trick this time. I got next to nothing done today. That seems to be par for the course lately as you're probably aware. But thanks for asking!

Love, Eddie

I am always so much happier in spring and summer. It has been beautiful here lately and I've already been to the beach a few times. Love it!

I don't think I could handle shooting squirrels, I had a "pet" one when I was little that would eat out of my hand.

In Brooklyn, it is really beautiful today. There is a slight breeze running through my house, all the windows are opened, and it feels like 75 degrees. I love this time of year, temperature wise. Ugh! Then it becaomes 98 degrees and I begin to melt like a fat snowman!

I gotta go outside and get off this darn computer or I'll miss some of this sun!

Eddie,
Does Zoloft increase your body temp or something? I know what you mean about not getting things done. I just don't feel like doing much when I'm down. I do stuff but it's usually not what needs to get done.

Addie,
Is the weather that nice this time of year in BC that you can go swimming already? I've heard BC is nice but I've always assumed it was still chilly somwhat being north of the border.

Ksos,
For me 75 is a heat wave. Keep in mind for us it is a gorgeous day when it is above 50! LOL I don't wear a jacket until it's 30 and I don't wear gloves until it's in the teens.

Enjoy your day outside. I started this post yesterday, a storm rolled in late last night and its still pouring here at mid morning today. I guess Ill be stuck inside for most of the day. That's ok though, I have lots of studying to catch up on. Talk to ya later.

Hey, Brent, addie, and ksos!
It's gorgeous here in the South. A bit warm. Mid-80s. But, yes, Brent, the Zoloft does something that makes me sweat and feel hot, so I'd probably be hot even if it weren't outside. Well, I've gotta go help my mom paint—unfortunately indoors.

Re: I'm glad summer is finally here!!!!

Hey Woodtick - Vancouver is really mild. It never gets all that cold - we don't really even get hardly any snow in the winter. I suppose it's warm enough to swim, but i was just laying on the beach in the sun and wading in the water. But yah its gorgeous I love living here (not a big fan of the cold).

Eddie,
Wear a hat and don't forget the drop cloth, oh, never mind you probably already know this stuff. You were the one that knew what a hole saw was! LOL!

Addie,
Everything I ever heard about BC has been positive. It must be a great place.

Re: I'm glad summer is finally here!!!!

It is beautiful here in NE Pennsylvania today. I was jusr out in my backyatd admiring the spring blooms. My yellow bushes and my Japanese trees are blooming. It is gorgeous. I love spring here in the east coast, in Texas I don't remember spring..It was summer and winter. And summer was like being baked in an oven. Winters would get pretty cold believe it or not. But the summer was unbearable. I am delighted to be back in a climet where I can enjoy all the seasons.

BC is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! And Vancouver seemed like a beautiful city although I just passed through for a few hours. Brent, if you ever get a chance to visit Banff or Jasper National Parks in Western Canada, DO IT!

Actually turned on the air conditioning this evening, folks!

Re: I'm glad summer is finally here!!!!

The New England has also been beautiful. Yesterday was 76 degrees in Boston and a chilly 58 degrees in comparison today. Tomorrow is a holiday in Massachusetts and the annual running of the Boston Marathon. IT is supposed to be 75 degrees so I suppose that I need to be glad that I am not running it. I ran a local race at the last minute today. It was a 10k and being that my town is on the coast the run travels along the lighthouse and through the harbor. Living 4 miles from town makes you forget what the beach and ocean look like in the winter because you never see it unless you make yourself. It is gorgeous.
It is somewhat unfortunate that with all these wonderful things surrounding me that I still can get glum, but once tomorrow is over it should be a bit easier to cope. The schools have this week off so it is vacation for a week which helps a lot. I am making a to-do list of all the school/work stuff and home stuff I need to do including a 12 page paper. I find that if I write down the things that need to get done then it is easier to keep things in perspective of what I need to do. I hope it works.
Hopefully I can make through the day without beating myself up too much for not working hard enough to run. My neighbor is running and I was really mad that she didn't tell me that she was going to run and she tried to hide it from me. I think that I am sad about that reaction too!
Oh well... I do hope it is a warm day to enjoy the outdoors. My husband is playing golf and that always makes for a good day if he can get a game in. Looking to widdle away at laundry and cleaning before I hit the tough stuff.
Thanks...

I just thought of a saying about Minnesota weather that I thought everybody would get a giggle from.
"We have nine months of winter and ninety days of rough snowmobiling!" AHHHH HAAA HAAAA!!!!!! (grabbing my belly)

Re: I'm glad summer is finally here!!!!

Brent,

I grew up in Syracuse and went to college in upstate NY where the temp doesn't get above 0 in January and February. Both my husband and I came from the same area and ended up in a coastal suburb of Boston. Although we still have snow and more than I would like it is not like Syracuse. We tried to move south a couple of years ago but there wasn't a job opportunity available. Now that are kids are in those years that moving is just not a good idea if you can avoid it, we are here to stay.
Minnesota must be like Syracuse in a lot of ways. There always seems to be a constant flurry and it just keeps snowing. It is in an area of lake effect snow that is always a pain. Although Boston is cool and snowy at times it is nothing like that.
I have heard people say that depression is all based on the weather and if you enjoy good weather then go where the weather is good. There is something to be said for that.
Enjoy snowmobiling for the next 90 days and hopefully it will be longer than that....
It is going to be 85 degrees today. WOW<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_1_9.gif' border=0></a>

Yeah, all you seasonally-depressed Yankees need to come down here to North Carolina!!
Although I must admit, I get depressed in the winter, too. It's just not as long as it is up there.

Re: I'm glad summer is finally here!!!!

Saturday my husband and I went up to San Francisco to go on one of the dinner and dance cruises that go out on the bay, and it was absolutely beautiful. Being out on the water and looking back at the skyline while the sun was setting, and then seeing the lights when it got dark was incredible. We had a great time.

Then Sunday and today we've had nothing but rain, LOL. I always feel better in spring and summer too, and I've been taking care of things in the yard and garden. I have a huge back yard. 2/3s of it are landscaped, but nothing has been done in the "back 40" as I call it. We don't know what we want to do there yet, put in a pool, build a small house, etc. But my backyard is like having my own private park, with all the beautiful trees, dozens of rose bushes, and other flowers. I can sit out there all day.
