Hello from Sahu

Hello,
I hope I'm responding in the right place. Forums are pretty new to me.
It's been great reading other people's recovery journeys and thought it might be helpful to have online support as it's 24 hours a day
I am on day 2 of no marijuana or tobacco (I have made innumerable attempts to completely stop).
I felt pretty angry and irritable most of the day but tried to do other things that make me feel good.
I find the hardest time is the afternoon, early evening and decided to do some yoga (even though I really didn't feel like doing it) to try and shift the foul mood I was in.
It did work however found it interesting that two friends whom I usually would smoke with, decided to contact me, right at that time Anyway, I managed to avoid them and continue the yoga. Phew
Anyway, I'd really like to stay a non smoker and get off the cycle of indulging then detoxing...tired of it.
Thanks for sharing your experience, I appreciate it
xox

Hi Sahu

I hope you don;t mind but I moved your post to its own thread - you'll get more response that way

I think yoga would be a great tool to use to focus your mind on other things

Welcome to SR, Sahu; really glad you found us.

Yoga sounds great!

Guided meditation may prove helpful, too.

Stay close.

We care.

Welcome to the forum, sahu!
There are all sorts of side effects associated with detox. Irritability is one of them. Just know that they will pass, but it may take some time (3 full months in my case) and be patient with yourself.
Count to 10, deep breaths and...
Oooohhhhhmmmmmm
Peace!

Thank you Lynnmarie123 and good effort on the sugar and alcohol too!

Ok, so today I'm going to remember I can do yoga, meditate and deep breathe to pass through any craving that arises.

Yesterday I felt a mixture of anger and sadness and I felt like a little child who is having a tantrum because they didn't get what they wanted.

I guess there are areas in my life where I have been trying to avoid feeling uncomfortable, so would have a smoke...but you never actually work through what made you uncomfortable in the first place!

I guess it's never too late to learn how to regulate my emotions hehe

(phew, i'm glad I can laugh today...)

Thank you for the support
x

Yep, part of recovery is learning new coping skills.
And coming here to talk about it is a great tool to add to your kit.
I make SR a daily thing. I check in here a LOT!
We know what it's like to be in active addiction and recovery. Here you can say anything. It's a safe place.
Glad you are here!
