Today I will use this day to be a better person than I was the day before.

I hope to make some friends here who will help me along this journey.

Thank you. Happy I’m here. Although I’m not in recovery, my husband is and I want to better understand the journey to sobriety.

Over the years, I’ve been controlling and sometimes downright mean. I have many regrets over how I’ve handled our arguments over his drinking. Always accusing, always expressing disdain and disappointment and sometimes disgust. I look back and feel just absolutely awful. I wish I had discovered Al Anon sooner. It would have saved us many many years of fights caused by my inability to accept alcoholism is a disease. And as they say in Al Anon, just as you can’t stop cancer from spreading, you can’t stop a loved one from drinking.

I hope I can gain both the insight and strength to be there for my husband as he continues his journey of sobriety.
