Carol I do remember that one My uncle was reciting that one with my cousins one night because my aunt was out somewhere and he had to do the bedtime bit. This was what he had the boys say with him:

Now I lay me down to sleep,
with a bag of jellybeans at my feet,
If I die before I wake,
it's because of a belly ache.

He couldn't remember the actual prayer. The next night my aunt put the boys to bed after years of saying the prayer with them, they told her she did it wrong. What about the jellybeans and belly ache? They like my uncle's version much better because it gave them bedtime giggles.

Welcome Mld - grateful you found us.

Grateful to be out here posting my bedtime grats for the first time in a week or so. Been faithful to my Morning Grats but my schedule lately has had me so tired, to be honest, I've been blowing off my bedtime grats and have noticed it taking a toll on me and my attitude.
Grateful to be aware that I need to post my bedtime grats and be faithful to being grateful.
Grateful to have the time to play catch up on the posts from this thread tonight.
Grateful for SR and all of you awesome sober people sharing and caring.

Love out to all xoxoxoxo

Hmmmmm....this might sound odd but it is sincere although it took a little work to get to it.

Grateful for the cop who pulled me over and towed my car. My tags had expired and I've been too broke to fix them...but its been hanging over my head so that I hardly drive. It couldn't have been at a worse moment...I was on my way to my reception for my work...got there as it was ending....and I had to take the train home. Will spend much of tomorrow seeing if I can Get this fixed...will probably take a little time....which I don't have as I work 7 days a week.

I can't say why it happened now with the crappy timing but I believe there is a reason even if I can't see it.

Felt bad for the cop he seemed to expect me to be angry at him. Mans doing his job...I was in the wrong...why should I take that out on him?

Night all!

(((LaF)))

Sorry it happened, and I definitely respect your perspective on it. I don't know why days like this happen either, but they have at least taught me that I can get through a crappy experience in one piece, and within the past year and nearly a half, without drinking!!!

Good luck tomorrow - let us know how it goes

Grateful this evening to have had a great day... productive, peaceful, fun with kids, excellent movie tonight and now reading time.

Grateful to have pick up many sale items at the grocery store

Grateful that my kids REALLY appreciated me making banana muffins with a baked brown sugar and cinnamon topping, made them at 6:00 a.m. so they would be ready for 7:00 a.m. when they got up. That would never have happened it I still drank.

Grateful for the nice weather

Grateful for everything I have in my life

Grateful to appreciate how many life has changed since I become sober 8 months ago.

Grateful for all of you.

Growing up I heard it this way:

Now I lay me down to sleep,
with a hot johnnycake at my feet,
If I should die before I wake,
Please don't eat my johnnycake!

Grateful to recall a fond childhood memory. G' nite.

Grateful to read your posts about living gratitude through the good and bad.

Grateful I got some needed errands done today and ran into a sale for my pup's fave squeaky toys. Stocked up so I can replenish more quickly when he destroys 'em. He's pretty good about not destroying them TOO quickly.

Grateful for a date w my fellow tonight, dinner and a movie.

Grateful for beautiful weather.

Grateful for the funny take offs on the prayers...:

My Great Grandmother .long gown on.hair loose from her
bun..smelling of fresh Vicks and lavender..we knelt beside
my bed...

"Now I lay me down to sleep
12 Holy angels at my feet
If I should die before I wake
I pray Thee Lord my soul to take"

Now I am the Great Grandmother ..live too far
from my 4 to leave that memory.

Nite everyone.....

LeFemme...YUCK! Not a good thing to happen..
Grateful for a peaceful day
Grateful for Spring!
Grateful for Ben and Jerrys Karamel Sutra..it was my last pint. Usually I make 4 servings out of it..making it last 4 nights. Well..now I just killed this pint off in 2 days..so that means in no time at all..I will be eating the entire pint in one night. I am here to tell you I am no longer responsible enough to keep it in my freezer. This makes me sad. But we had a good run.
Night sleep tight! I like the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep versions!
