First Gratitude List

I am 13 days sober. I was told that doing on of these will help.

I am grateful for:

-My health (I miraculously still have it)
-Janelle
-Sleep
-My car
-Food
-My parakeets
-My home AA group
-The fact that I'm employed (albeit not a good job)
-This site
-Music
-Clean Police Record (honest)
-Caffeine
-Football (though may be no NFL this year)

This week I know a 24 year old guy who died by driving into a tree (inebriated I would guess) and a guy who may have HIV. Keeps things in perspective that life is fragile and I need to quit the relapsing nonsense.

(((Suic))) - gratitude lists are a good thing. You did WAY better than me, on my first one. I was angry...at me and the world, ticked off that now I had to deal with all those consequences I kept putting off for "when I get clean".

I was, repeatedly, told to make a gratitude list. So, through clenched teeth, with a frown on my face, I said "I'm grateful for a soft bed and pillow", because I'd been locked up, and trust me....jail "pillows and mattresses" are anything BUT soft.

Luckily, it didn't take long for my list to get really, really long

I'm sorry about your friends, but yes, that does put things into perspective, quite clearly.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

I'm grateful for SR, they are so supportive to those in need. I am a good person and they realize this and accept me for who I am, an addict.

Furthermore, when I make a mistake (even if I don't even see it) they welcome me back just as the doors of AA and NA do
