A good morning/evening 'prayer'?
Swampee, keep sharing at meetings, and sticking out your hand after meetings, and I am sure you will find a sponsor that you can mesh with.

Thanks for the support. I'm glad that I found this forum. I'm looking around my area for some meetings that may have a little more broader beliefs (Buddhist, freethinker, etc.) so I'll sit in a couple of those if I can find any.
In the morning as soon as I wake up, I say these
"Help me today to not put anything in my body or mind that you would not have there.
Take all the relationships in my life, and do with them what you will (remember relationships are NOT just with people!)
Let me know the truth."
"Take my will and my life,
Guide me in my recovery,
Show me how to live"
then I do some mediation, contemplation on something, or step work/writing, and when I a ready to get up and take on the day I say 'Lets do this thing"

Yeah I found those concepts completely baffling for quite a while, especially hand it over. When I was new I didn't have any idea about these things but I did pick up that prayer was important. So I says How do you do that then?
I got a couple of pointers like always pray for the benefit of others, not for self, show gratitude, and above all look for the results. So I start off like the little boy in the movie saying his prayers by his bed, please look after mum and dad, and my sister, and Joe and jack from the meeting who are having a bad time, and that newcomer whose name I can't remember, and please help me stay of the booze and maybe help others you get the idea.
Then I looked for the results and when I looked I began to see.
And my attitudes changed, my fear of drinking left as did my fear of those steps after 3. So it worked.
Now I use the 3rd step prayer a lot, I like Dr Bob's version, and all day long I use three basic prayers that always work.
1) Please God, take these stupid thoughts away
2) please God, send me the right thought or action for this situation
and 3) please God, can I have a car park.
Forward we go...side by side-Rest In Peace
