My friend and me

My friend and me
my friend has always been with me,
by my side or close behind you see.
I always knew he was there,
whether times were rough or fair.
he never said "I told you so"
he tried to show me the proper way to go.
I had to try to lead the way,
but things are not like that today.
I heard that when the student is ready the Teacher will appear,
little did I know that it was my friend, so near.
I ask him to show me the way,
every morning, every day.
I didnt know that I could hit my knees,
with oh such the greatest of ease.
i have faith and trust in Him today,
that his will be the right way.
he reminds me to think,
even when I want to drink.
he has given me hope,
and that I dont need any dope.
and when my emotions run wild,
he becomes the parent to the child.
he keeps me in the right latitude,
and for that I show my gratitude.
I try to help otherswhen they are in need,
because I have quite the friend, indeed.
he never lost faith in me,
even when iI blind, and could not see.
for me there is only one way to live each day,
and I start by asking him to show me the way.
and some days it seems like I've been shot at by tanks,
but every night I get on my knees and give him my thanks.
the things he has shown my the last 90 days,
are quite miraculous in so many ways.
he has granted me acceptance of my disease,
sernity and courage with the greatest of ease.
and if I live my life like those in his kingdom,
that some day he might grant me some wisdom.
by having faith andtrusting in him,
I have found patience and tolerance within.
his understanding, forgiveness and love,
makes me feel like I can fly like the dove.
I have learned to be humble,
and for that I hope not to stumble.
and I pray every day that you will soon see,
your friend like mine, who is always with me!

Don't take yourself too damn seriously. Thanx. I needed that. Went to a meeting tonight. felt great, then towards the end, started falling into the self centered why me pit. 114 days. Got to speak at a couple of commitments past couple of weeks, thought I would have done better than I did. Need help in stopping the analyzing myself crap.
