Merry Christmas Dear Friends
Merry Christmas Dear Friends
I haven't posted much here lately because I have been in Toronto with my husband while he underwent surgery for the first step of his bowel cancer. Radiation and chemo pills will follow in a couple of weeks, then more surgery...but we are both grateful that this is all "doable" even if it is hard.
The good news is that he got out of the hospital today and we are going to spend Christmas at a hotel here, a couple of blocks away, and then head home in a couple of days where home care has been set up.
It's been a hard year, with my cancer and his...who has "his and her cancer, anyway?". But I have learned a few things that I'd like to share this Christmas Eve.
Courage comes when we least expect it and faith helps us do what we need to do.
Life is precious and wonderful and the world is filled with joy...all we have to do is show up and listen and observe.
The tools of recovery will see us through anything we face in life, trust me, my toolbox is with me always these days.
Special people come into our lives in times of trouble that we would never have met otherwise. The room service guy brought us a Christmas package with white chocolates decorated for Christmas, bath salts, apple spice tea and small flowers. The house cleaning lady left me extra pillows and a soft blanket for my husband...thoughtful gifts of caring, a most wonderful Christmas gift.
I learned that we are never alone, even in our darkest times. Friends and family and support workers and kind doctors and nurses make sure we don't go through any of this alone.
And I learned there is always hope, no matter how dark our lives become, hope is the light that will see us through and prove to us that anything is possible, if only we believe.
For my dear friends here I wish you all the special gifts of Christmas...Inner peace, joy, love and strength and courage to face the days ahead,, no matter how hard or wonderful they may be.
Merry Christmas dear friends, may the spirit of Christmas fill your hearts and bring you happiness in days ahead.

Merry Christmas,Ann!
You are a gift to humanity-----that we SR
jealous hogswines----get to hog up all by
ourselves! Some lesser websites want some
of our Ann for themselves......but we hiss and
stomp our feet like spoiled two year olds and
scream in unison MINE MINE MINE!!!!!!!
Not exactly sharing behavior on this Christmas Eve,
now is it? (Vale, ever the clever hypocrite----scolds
other SR members for that which HE is most guilty of!)
Merry Christmas to ALL our dear SR friends!
(but keep your greedy server hands off our Ann!!)

Merry Christmas Ann, to you and your husband. I hope you can both rest comfortably and enjoy the peace of the season. Have a safe journey home - I'm sure you will both be so happy to be back! It is so true how many angels we find during times of troubles. Since you have been that angel to so many, I'm sure God is returning what you have given a million fold!

Dear Ann,
Merry Christmas to you and your dear husband!
Thank you for being you! There have been so many
times that I have started to panic, and you have been there
and talked some good kind words of wisdom to me when I
need them, and I appreciated that.
We are so lucky to have such a compassionate and caring
SR member here so willing to walk with us!
Hugs to you and to your dear husband!
May 2015 be filled with hope!
Love,
TF

Thank you all for your kind words.
It may not be the Christmas Hallmark dreams are made of...many are not...but it will be wonderful to spend a quiet day, walking in a city that has paused for a day and just soak in the beauty of Christmas.
Let's all light a candle today, to say thank you for how far we have come and to brighten the path of those just arriving. Together our light will glow with Christmas spirit and love.
Hugs
