They don't love themselves?

You know how we always hear that addicts don't love themselves? In fact, they often times hate themselves inside.

They sure act like they love themselves. A lot! Much more than they love anyone else!

Just being extra b*tchy because it's Monday.

I think the truth is they love the drug even more than themselves and that anyone who can get in the way for the pursuit gets to be really low on the lost.

My son loved his drug but hated what he had become. There was no love around for him to share with anyone else.

It's just sad. And sick.

Hugs

There's a big gulf between self indulgent behavior and healthy self respect...

My husband and I had it out recently, and toward the end of the fight, he said something about how he made a mistake and it has affected everything. I don't think it made him feel better, but it made me feel better to hear that he is aware this situation is his doing. He made a series of awful choices, and as a result from that we have problems financially, emotionally, physically...the consequences just keep on coming, and the whole family is paying them, not just him. It was nice he recognized that.

Unfortunately their first love is the drug. Second is everything else. Their behaviour only reflects this sad reality unfortunately.

A slow form of suicide via drugs or booze or both is not self love.

By the time it's removing spouses, kids, jobs and homes..... We aren't doing it for fun anymore.

It's more like "killing yourself to live "
