Letting Go in Love

Saturday, February 9, 2013

You are reading from the book The Language of Letting Go

Letting Go in Love

When people with a compulsive disorder do whatever it is they are compelled to do, they are not saying they don't love you - they are saying they don't love themselves.
—Codependent No More

Gentle people, gentle souls, go in love.

Yes, at times we need to be firm, assertive: those times when we change, when we acquire a new behavior, when we need to convince others and ourselves we have rights.

Those times are not permanent. We may need to get angry to make a decision or set a boundary, but we can't afford to stay resentful. It is difficult to have compassion for one who is victimizing us, but once we've removed ourselves as victims, we can find compassion.

Our path, our way, is a gentle one, walked in love - love for self, love for others. Set boundaries. Detach. Take care of ourselves. And as quickly as possible, do those things in love.

Today, and whenever possible. God let me be gentle with others and myself. Help me find the balance between assertive action taken in my own best interests, and love for others. Help me understand that at times those two ideas are one. Help me find the right path for me.

That is awesome! I can so identity with this! It has been a long road for me of trial and error and continually working towards balance and peace in my life! I love this! Healing, letting go of resentment, anger, bitterness, trusting my "gut", figuring out what that even was, acceptance, awareness, action asking for Gods will for my life and the power to carry that out, surrender, powerlessness, removal of charter defects and God replacing them with a charter that was healthy all took time and work and my willingness to change! This is for sure a process and could not be done over night! But oh how worth every minute of this sometimes painful journey it is to come to this place in my life and really "get it"!

God never stops amazing me at his awesomeness and the path he paves for me if I just let go and let him in love!

Thanks for posting that! Really helped me to see just where I am right now and look back to where I came from and be oh so greatful for all God has done in me! So thankful for people like you and the road I am on today but mostly God and how awesome he is! Humbly forever greatful!

These words sum up the 12 steps of recovery and this forum program better than any I have ever heard.

Thank you, LMN, for posting these inspirations and reminders that it's a simple program about love and respect for ourselves and others. From that comes peace and light.

Hugs
