OT:Prayers, Virtual Hugs, and Warm Wishes Needed
Friends,
I know this has nothing to do with anything going on here, but a family from my school has suffered a terrible loss, and they need all the prayers they can get.
One of my students from this past year got pregnant in the fall. Her attendance became spotty at best, and it was obvious she was suffering from depression, feeling physically sick with pregnancy, and who knows what else. She ended up having the baby about a week before school got out (if I remember correctly), and she only passed two classes this year- my class and one other- that she was able to pull up to passing from home. After the baby was born, she was able to go to summer school to make up some of her credits so she could get back on track for graduation. She has worked very hard to stay on the right path, and all indications are that the baby was born happy and healthy.
I found out today that the baby is dead. Apparently no one knows how he died yet, but he was gorgeous, well cared for, and surrounded constantly with people who love him. I have sent mom and grandmom messages with my condolences and promises of prayer, but this is the only other thing that I felt like I could do for them. Sure, the momma now has a second chance at being a teenager, but I know she loved that child more than anything. Loosing a child can't be easy at any age.
RIP Baby Zay

Thanks everyone. I guess the biggest thing that scares me in all of this is how easy it would be for this girl to slip into some really bad habits right now to self medicate... especially seeing as how several of her friends are of a not-so-great crowd... so tonight I'm praying more than anything for her to find strength in those who love her to keep going. She's been doing so well until now, and I just pray that she finds a way to keep going. That's all I can do for her is pray.
