Tortured Soul

Tortured Soul

Have you looked into the eyes of a tortured soul
have you seen the scars that are hidden
and wondered about the story never told
Have you looked into their eyes
and seen a reflection of you
wanted to know what they're running away from
or running to
Have you looked into the eyes of a tortured soul
the pain runs so deep
they're unable to speak
they run and run as fast as they can
they slam every door that's been opened to them
they don't want your love
they don't want a friend
If you've looked into the eyes of a tortured soul
than you put out your hand and welcome them in
you bring them in out of the cold
they will reject your kindness and question your trust
but deep down inside they want someone to know
they will lie and say it's not so
the pain is too raw and they'll run again
just be there for them
one day they will come and put trust in a friend~

Got a call from a friend of mine last week to tell me
someone we both love showed up at her door about
two a.m. He was in really bad shape, had a gun and
wanted to die, he was not a threat to her, he just
needed to talk. My husband mean time had a close call
with congestive heart failure and my daughter called
with a "situation."
I swear to God it was total insanity at its best!!
Someone was looking down at all of us, I truly
believe some sort of devine intervention took place.
My friend showed up at the right door at the right
time and this is for him. My husband is doing great
and then there was the situation.
My daughters boyfriend told her a lady on his block,
was moving to be with a man she met on line. She
has two little dashounds two and a half years old, and
this man can't have the dogs where he lives. The dogs
were in a bad situation because she found a home for
one but not the other, no telling where the other would
end up.They were clearly terrified and the question to
me was "mom, will you take them?"
We have one little dog that is 18 now and a 7 year old cat.
Emotion wise I never wanted to get any more pets, I just
felt I could not endure any more loss. My husband and I
talked it all over and they were brought to us the following
day. The first 6 to 7 hours that the little guys were here
was so heart breaking to see how scared they were. I just
kept thinking, thank goodness they're together, they
have each other and what a difference it makes to them.
I wrote this for for my friend, and for these two little dogs
and all critters that have ever lost trust in someone. The
world is a good place, reaching your hand out to bring
someone in from the cold you will be repaid ten times
over. Thanks for listening, thanks for being here. I kinda
got lost for awhile but have renewed faith.

It's beautiful!!!! And I know just how you felt about those little guys. For right now, we don't want any others (we now have 1 cat & 3 bunnies) however each time a homeless one appears, it is just so hard to say no. Of course you all know that saying "no" has been and still is the hardest defect of character for me to conquer.

Hugs,
Chris

Thanks for sharing this!

I'm glad you feel more balanced and have found your way back and I'm so grateful everything worked out so well for all - your husband, your friend and those pups.

Thanks you guys
SERENITY, I know what you mean about the "no" factor, it
is hard, but in this case I'm so glad I went with my gut
feeling which was YES!

greeteachday, thank you, I'm glad I found my way back too.

I have one to share with you, poet:

Grounded

You said you always wanted me
That you loved my flighty ways
Told me that you'd build a house
If I promised to obey.

You liked the way I responded
When you called, I answered fast
The only one who gave me hope
When I thought my chance had passed.

But you have locked me in this cage
Let me out when you have time
Am I just your decoration
Or did I commit a crime?

Didn’t know that you’d paid for me
I’m one out of ten dozen
What set me apart from them
What made me your diversion?

You hurt me all too easily
Clipped wings never fly again
Don’t cry when you see me bruised
Please don’t bother to pretend.
I wrote that after watching a friends parakeet try to fly and crashing instead. I was horrified when she told me it's white breast would bruise from the attempt. She'd had it's wings clipped so it wouldn't fly away, and the entire 15 seconds made a lasting impression on me. It was no small coincidence she was also married to a substance abuser at that time who dominated her.

I just learned about a two weeks ago she is bottoming out, diagnosed as a bipolar poly substance abuser. Her ex is remarried, clean, and has full custody of the kids. She's homeless in Tucson somewhere and I pray for her all the time, that her wings will fly again.

Chino, this is wonderful and breaks my heart at the same time. I felt the same way meeting someone that had their cat declawed, wth? I hope she finds her way and discovers
strength she never knew she had, what a lesson in life to read this.
