he is using great judgement

my RAS has alittle over a year clean and sober and today he was in an accident at work.
He is a ship builder, he was working on a big ship and while moving a chunk of steel it broke off and hit him in the mouth.
He lost one tooth and they are splinting the other (both front top teeth)
they started to write him a prescription for perks and he said no thanks and took a prescription for motrin 800. I am so proud of him.
I never once said a word about what prescription he should take and he made the right choice. woohoo!!!!!!! he is of course depressed being toothless but he has every right to I guess. He said he will not leave the house until they put a tooth in the empty spot. today was the last day of work til jan 5th for christmas vacation. I think he'll go stir crazy and finally go out expecially to snowboard. but for him to stick with program and not take the script is probably not a big deal to him but I feel like I hit the lottery.

I love it when our addicted loved ones get it. Good for him. Here is hoping he gets his teeth fixed quickly. I know how important looking good is at that age, Mine gets a pimple and thinks she is going to die She would probably die if she lost a tooth. Have a great Holiday Season and thank you for sharing and making mine a little brighter. Hugs, Marle

That is fantastic!

And I sure understand the tooth problem.
I have a mouth full of implants,
stemming form a car accident from years ago.

The good part is...implants are less painful that having a tooth pulled.

Hugs...

I'm so sorry about his accident (but glad at least it was on work time so he will be fully covered for the dental care) What a special thing for both of you that he made such a responsible choice!

I think it is huge on his part - and on yours. I'm afraid I would have had to say something about pain meds. I still have Alanon slips!

Love in recovery,

His recovery was put to the test...and he passed.
You have every right to be a proud parent.

Fantastic progress for both of you.

Pills are such a slippery slope --even when taken for good reason. I'm so happy for you and your son that he chose this way!! Good for him!

(((Rashue)))

Good to know his sense of humor is still intact.

Meanwhile, I now have "all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" going through my head...thanks.

Hugs and prayers!
