Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. It was quite nice here. For the first time in a long time, both sons were here for the holiday, and one of them wasn't in jail. Actually the only one who has had a reserved prison room is the oldest, they put in a revolving door for him. The youngest has only been in jail, once, for 3 months and that was obviously enough to straighten his head around.
Anyway, as some of you know, oldest son has been working in California and was able to come home. He has a nice job, but hard work, and they paid for him to fly home, and back again January 4th, I think it is.
He called me today. I'm not exactly sure, where, or with whom he was staying, but he woke up this a.m. (that would be NOON on his clock) and found all his money in his wallet gone, and the place ransacked. He slept through it, because he's using again. Not cocaine, as far as I know, but Marijuana. A drug is a drug, is a drug.
Anyway, he lost $750.00, and whatever else, I don't know, he doesn't have much, actually. It sure was a strange conversation when he called ME to tell me that you "can't trust anyone, now adays..."
I just had to agree with him on that point.
Perhaps what goes around, comes around.
Hugs to all,

Hugs to all,
I'm glad the boys were home for Christmas, and I can see your acceptance and recovery shining through here.
And as for the robbery? Well, that's $750 less he has to spend on drugs, yes? Gotta be grateful

So glad to hear that they were at least around for Christmas. Sorry your son had his place broken into and money stolen but your attitude is great. Your recovery sure is shining bright. I guess when you have been through all that we have been through, the loss of an addict's $750.00 is minor! He's lucky that's all he lost.
I pray they both find thier shining path and recovery.

Marteen

Moose,
Glad to hear your holiday was a merry one. It's too bad your son had to have an unfortunate incident though. Sounds like you are getting through it without any trouble.
You handled it well. All in all you had the Christmas that you deserved.
Hugs..............Lo

Moose - your light has guided me over and over again. Thank you for showing me such a good example of loving the addict whether he is using or not.
(((loving hugs)))
PS - Ann's comment was good, yes? I LIKE her logic!

Ha ha...shortly after that call...the next one came...dum de dum dum dum......
"Hey mom, I don't have ANY money now!"
"Do ya think you could lend me...."...
He didn't get to finish his sentence before I gave him the:
You're so smart,
we love you so much.
I'm sure you're going to get through this.
You'll find a way...
(he does have another check coming, but I am NOT fronting any money....)
I also gave him the tip of sleeping with his wallet under his pillow....:rof
Hugs to all, and yep, that's right, his H.P. had a reason for that money to up and disappear...

Well, Moose, it's always something, isn't it?
And I bet, I just bet you weren't surprised by the 2nd call. So glad the tape recording kicked in and you gave the "you'll figure this out" speech. I can't tell you how many times I've used that one.
Your son's HP has him right where he needs to be. And I guarantee you that there's a lesson to be learned in losing that $750. I'm praying your son is learning the lesson.
So how long is it before you head south?????
Hugs,
Hangin' In

What a shining example of recovery you show.
Such an inspiration to us all.
I told my son yesterday I just felt like takin' him by the shoulders and rattlin' his teeth a while. He thought that was too funny. Whatever!
You rock, Moose!
Love ya,
Linda
p.s. Sending prayers that he figures things out on his own and doesn't spend too much (wasted) time tryin' to smooze you.

Moose,
Wow.
You really, really do.
It impresses me that you can let him learn the lesson he's supposed to learn. You didn't jump in to fix things...
THAT, my dear, is recovery and you have inspired me today.
Big hugs:ghug

Moosie,
You have me laughing this morning. Doncha just love when our kids get to learn one of those life lessons and it's NOT FROM US?
I really like it that he called you to tell you that "you just can't trust anyone nowadays..."
And I'll be humming that darn Dragnet tune all day too!
Love ya
