AH came home Friday from 28 day rehab
So far, so good. He's actually "normal." By that I mean, he is spontaneous, enjoys having a good time, is making what appears to be progress towards real recovery. Goes to A.A. meetings daily. I still see so many of the alkie attitudes, but regardless this is a quantum leap from what he was like before he went into detox/rehab. I think it dawned on him as to what a mess he had become. He was physically ill, spiritually empty, not paying the bills on time, not doing ANYTHING around the house, and just an overall mess.
I'm taking this one day at a time. The good thing is, at least this time he's making a real effort, and I think he realizes it is just one day at a time. He has a huge coffee mug that has the following saying on it:
"The camel each day goes twice to his knees.
He picks up his load with the greatest of ease.
He walks through the day with his head held high
And stays for that day completely dry."
It took a looonnngggg time for me to understand that my hapiness does not hinge on his sobriety, his attitudes, his outlook, blah, blah, blah. I am keeping my side of the street ("litter box") clean. It's his business what he does with his side. At least I finally realize I have the strength and ability to leave if I so desire. I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude for the time being.
I must say that I was surprised by his return entrance - he brought home a stuffed camel (I collect camels), a rosebush, a teeshirt, and other gifts for me. I was in our pool and he walked out on the patio, said he was thrilled to be home, and the dove into the pool - clothes, shoes, socks and all!!! - and he was SOBER!!

I'm very happy for you. Please remember now his hard work begins!
You will probably see mood swings and confusion. Hopefully he will get a sponsor and work with his sponsor.
If he remains sober and works a progam of recovery you will see changes, some of which you may be startled by or unsure of. It is all happens in recovery, he may fly high and then not know how to land these early months.
You have done so well up to now, now you too will be pulling all your tools out of your bag and using them.
I will continue to keep you both in my prayers.
Love and ((((((to all)))))),
