Important Question
Tonight I will be giving my testimony at my youth group tonight. I was wondering if it is okay to say that I go to AL-Anon. I know that one of the tradititons say not to disclose your name in press, radio, etc, but does this apply here.
Feedback will be appreciated.

Tradition Eleven: Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, TV and films. We need guard with special care the anonymity of all AA members.
I think you can say that you are a member of Al Anon as long as you are ready for the inevitable question of WHO is the alcoholic in your life ... I always responded that I didn't go to Al Anon because of anyone else. I went for ME.
I have always been told that the anonymity is about the other people who are at the meetings, and the alcoholics whom we know in AA. I am proud to identify myself as a Grateful Member of Al Anon.
Good luck with your testimony tonight.
Hugs

I agree with Osier. Other people I know will sometimes say they have a 12-step program that has been helpful. The important thing is not to break the anonymity of the alcoholic or other Al-Anons.
