I kissed his cheek. I ran my fingers through his hair. I whispered in his ear, "I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you."
He lifted his head, then opened his eyes briefly and smiled. I leaned in close. I kissed him gently on the lips. And he began to cry. He tried to speak but he was too weak and couldn't form the words.
So I leaned in closer and waited, hoping he'd try again. Then he slowly mouthed the words, "I love you, and I'm sorry." I wiped the tears from his eyes and squeezed his hand and told him, "I'll be back tomorrow."
He smiled and then drifted gently back to sleep because today he knew that he was absolutely loved and so did I.
It was a gift from God. So tonight I think I can finally sleep. Thank you for your prayers. Goodnight my SoberRecovery family.

I haven't come here often but today I needed to feel not alone - your posts have touched the deepest depths of my heart - I will say a prayer for you both. I am so frightened by acknowledging the levels dispair alcoholism can take both the alcoholic and us to. May God be with you both during this time and give you strength.
