He made it 26 days
He made it 26 days
Heard from a close source that xabf made it in rehab for 26 days. Had two days to go to graduate. He was caught drinking and kicked out. Now, he's going to an alcohol program that's way out in the country and it lasts up to a year or more. It's all men and nature. I hope he finds his sobrieity there.
My counselor told me that drunks still have "wet" brains up to 6 months of detoxing. That it takes that long for the chemical to stop taking effect over the brain. 30 days is "just a detox" and not a long enough program to successfully work for those who wanna work it.
I know sobriety is possible. I'm one of them that acheived that only by the Grace of God. I'm praying for him and God's will in his life.

Well I guess he is back to day 1 again. Those 26 days mean nothing now that he has had a drink. Sigh ...... what a shame! I wonder if his family blames you for this? (Only kidding ......PLEASE don't check)
A quick story ........ I had an uncle who hadn't drank for 28 years ..... he was active in AA. Something happened in his life and he sat in his car and drank a bottle of vodka and those 28 years were all flushed down the toilet ....... he had to start all over from day one. I am happy to say it's now been 32 years since that relapse.

GF, My axw did 2 stints in rehab in so many years, and still to this day will sacrifce everything to maintain her addiction. I too learned that it takes 6 mos for the brain of an A to return to "normal", (normal serotonin levels). It seems to me that a 1 yr program would have to be the only chanse for her. It's encouraging that your x will still seek help, especially in an extended program. I wish him luck.
I once survived a life threatening addiction to cocaine, 25 years in greatfull recovery. I learned that it takes two years for the brain of a cocaine addict to return to normal serotonin levels!
If you want it bad enough, it can be done!

sorry to hear what happened. My AH has relapsed again after 7 days of sobriety (not much I know). I am so tired of the relapses, etc.
There are three month programs you can go to. hope he finds sobriety there.
