Just be happy for me, d@mmit!
I was approached to switch jobs and gain a Directorship by the elders of a different church. They've been waiting for me to accept of decline the offer for 4 months while I recovered from knee surgery. I decided the terms that would be acceptable, made my own deal, gained every single point on my top five priority list, and they called last night and accepted it as I wrote it! H says this morning, "Now, don't make changes too fast. They won't accept that" as if I was some F*ING MORON! I said that my training and 15 years experience would keep that from happening. Then I said (as I was fuming inside), "Just be happy for me today. Don't tell me how to do my job because it shows that you need to control me in order for me to succeed. I can assure you that this isn't the case." He said (amongst his bugged out eyes) that it was a great opportunity and went up to take a shower.
He can't ruin this day. This day is ALL ABOUT ME. Oh, and the minister is EQUALLY excited that I am coming -----SO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scrooge your own party, pal. Leave mine alone.

Sounds like you thought it through. If it works for you then he'll see that in time. He could be part CoDe too.
Good for you for not letting his actions and response ruin your day!!!!
Congratulations on your new job!!

I think addicts are codependant on us as much as we are codependant on them. They rely on us to repeat our same behaviors and it frightens them when we make good changes in our lives.
I finally got my dream job after 3 1/2 yrs of trying to get in, my AH was happy for me, so happy he went on a four day bender

I'm not sure I've met an addict (and I've met many, dated quite a few, we all know the drill) who doesn't show signs of codep behavior. I guess this accounts for all the alcoholics I keep meeting in Al-Anon.
