1st Time Here
Welcome, I'm a newbie too!
You've come to the right place. I spend a lot of time reading and rereading old post. The people here are so supportive and honest...sorry I can't tell you much my A is my 20 year old son. I have learned so much in just a few weeks. :hello2

LMM, as you can tell by reading the posts, many of us have gone through terrible things and we ourselves have acted irrationally from the insanity alcholism causes. I went through a long period of time, and still do occassionaly, when I really did feel like I was insane. So, we may not know where you have been, but we sure won't judge you, because we understand the rollercoaster ride living with an A can cause!
Keep reading, keep sharing!

Welcome, LMM.. We may not all have the same stories but we know what it's like to have an alcoholic in the family. Keep posting and reading and you'll find a lot of help here. Blessings to you....

Hi LMM--I've only been here a short time too. Just keep coming back and reading
and pretty soon you will find yourself writing things you didn'y even realize you felt.
That's a good thing--people here will have all kinds of support and compassion and
never judge you or minimize your feelings. It's a great support group. Smiles--Dee

Hi guys and welcome.
I read and posted on here for a few months before I plucked up the courage to go to a real live meeting. I had isolated myself so much that it seemed impossible to share face to face with anyone.
My first meeting was a lot less scary as a result but I have found that I have made much more progress, despite only having one meeting a week. I still come back here ALL the time, though!!

Hi LLM...glad you found us. We have all gone through this alone for long enough. We should have a pole about how long it took for any of us to even tell one other person that we thought our AHs were alcoholics! I personally know it was 7 yearsish for me (didn't even admit it to myself until 4 months ago). You just took a huge step to getting yourself through what can seem like a hopeless situation. We're all here for you... no one will judge you. The first thing I would do is RUN to the bookstore and read "Codependent No More"... it's cheap and easy and anonymous...then maybe you'll work up to an Alanon meeting - and we are always here for you at SR!
