Offer to include my MIL in Family Therapy?
My guess here - and its been stated before - is that there is a history with your RAH and his parents that you are not aware of. The MIL sounds like a person who has been burned more than once by her addict child. "Been there and done that and not doing it again". I wonder how many times she thought it was the "last" time only to have "it" happen again..............
The remedy I see here is time. I think your RAH is going to have to remain sober and in recovery for a really long time before his mother might think to take the walls down, and allow herself a close relationship.
One problem is, its a little hard when you dont know for sure if it will strike again
Yep.
