Took the thought right out of my brain.

Plenty of "legal" things are harmful. Personally, though, I think it's everyone's responsibility to use good judgment. Adults don't need to be protected from every stupid thing they MIGHT conceivably do. As an alcoholic with many years of recovery, Bob's friend knows the dangers.

Regarding 1 above,
So true. I think in too many cases the world tells us that certain things are acceptable or even legal yet, each person needs to separate themselves from the things that they know to not be good for them mentally, physically and spiritually.

Regarding 2 above,
Yes, my friend after hanging out in the rooms of AA knows well of the dangers.

Proven that self deception = we can talk ourselves into most anything.

I was once again in la la land.

So now, here is an update on my friend --

Knowing that he is doing wrong, yet refusing to give up his sin of using.

I shared with him that, "I think of that as a dangerous place to be in."

He agreed.

I remember back when I was doing wrong, knew it and yet would not stop.
I felt that the Man upstairs would not let me continue on for long.
It's a spiritual battle of mind and soul.

For those of us that are free today -- please, let us take time to be grateful.
It seems that every time that I forgot to do this -- I was once again in la la land.

MB,
Every day I count my blessings. They might be small, a roof over my head, food on the table, but there is always something that I am grateful for.

I pray for all the men and women on this forum on either side of the fence, that they find the peace they came here looking for. Hopefully your friend will find that peace sooner then later.

Yes, we must never forget that the AV is like is psychopath criminal in the movies, even though he may be in prison for 10 years he is doing push-ups in his cell every day waiting for the chance to wreak havoc when he gets out.

Bob - I think your friend is lucky to have a good friend like you!
