Little Win!
So, this is a little win for me. Have you ever listened to the Kenny Chesney song "that's why I'm here"? I haven't made it through that song in years without crying. I always lose it at the end, when he asks her to be there when he stands up. I know it is just a song, but it hits home.

"I know for us it may be too late
But it would mean the world to me
If you were there when I stand to say
It's the simple things in life
Like the kids at home and a lovin' wife
That you miss the most, when you lose control
And everything you love starts to disappear
The devil takes your hand and says no fear
Have another shot, just one more beer
Yeah I've been there
That's why I'm here"

Never heard it but must give it a listen. It makes me sad to see, but I still don't understand why the A doesn't choose the disease, but does choose to get help and doesn't. Then becomes depressed that they lose the things they profess to love.
Anyway, bitter table for many im sure
That said, can you share what the win was? Did you make it without crying?

I adore Kenny Chesney...this song doesn't get much airtime, but it used to stop me in my tracks. When I was married to XAH I used to dream of a day this might happen...
XABF (yep, found another in disguise who relapsed after dating) went on to AA. His story now is that he prayed for a loving woman, a van, and a home...got them all...then picked up a drink and lost everything but the van. It WAS too late for me to come back, but I now think of him when that song comes on my iPod...with a wistful smile because I think he made it (so far)...and every last one of the lyrics were so true for him. And he's that guy in AA telling his story.
I wish people would really listen to songs like this more often.
Colin Raye has one too called "Little Rock" that used to catch me.
Thanks for sharing.
