Withdrawals from Alcohol
Hi Friends;
I have a family memory who is an alcoholic. He is now mostly an undercover one. Sometimes he stops drinking (I think). We can tell he is not drinking because he gets depressed and sometimes throws up and feels sick. Because he is "under cover" with his drinking no one knows how much he consumes. My daughter thinks he is having withdrawals during these times. I was under the assumption someone has to consume a lot of booze ongoing over a long period of time before they experience withdrawals to the point of throwing up. Am I to assume from this, he is drinking a lot more than we all think?
Thanks
Carrie

Hard to say. Liver disease and other maladies related to alcoholism can also cause vomiting. Every body reacts differently. And, of course, there are many other disorders that cause vomiting and feeling ill. He should probably see a doctor.

Ok, so like most things with alcoholism; I will move away from trying to analyze or figure out this situation.
Thanks all,
Carrie
