Sober 4 years

Hi SR friends
Happy New Year.
The New Year marked 4 years sober for RABF.
We went out to a friends for New Years & he was relaxed & telling jokes & lots of laughs were had.
The more he is out socially the better he is coping being around alcohol.
I am so proud of him & he has come so far.
There is always hope
Hugs

Always great to hear about someone who's made the choice for long-term recovery!

Wishing both of you many more years of happiness.

Congrats to him! Is it four years or three? In April of this year you alluded to "two years and four months." Those January 1 sobriety dates are tricky--one of our group members with a Jan. 1 date recently mentioned he has "almost 25 years," but when I checked his sobriety date (I buy the anniversary coins for my home group), it was 1990, which means this is 26 years for him! We had to do the math, lol, but he finally agreed it was 26 years. My first husband (sobriety date 1/11/80) will be celebrating 36 years!

Glad to hear you guys had a happy New Year's Eve!

Gosh your right Lexie.
He is now into his 4th year.
I joined here in 2012 after I decided I didn't want to be with an active alcoholic. He gave up in that New Year.
Sorry SR friends 3 years sober.
Despite the length of time things are good are improving for him.

Three years is EQUALLY awesome. All any of us really has is today--it's nice to count the sober time (and believe me, when I was newly sober I could not WAIT to get those 30-, 60-, 90-day coins). And certainly for F&F, consistent steady sobriety helps us feel much more comfortable and confident about the relationship.

All you need to get "time" is don't drink and don't die.

That's fantastic Rosie. Congratulations to him, and thanks for giving us this update. Good news is a great way to start the new year.
