I filed for divorce
I was all ready to file today, then realized I forgot my checkbook. I sat and stewed over it all morning, then drove home and grabbed it so I could file this afternoon. Paid the fee, filed the documents, and if STBXAH will sign an agreement memorializing what we have agreed to verbally, I may only have to appear in court once, when everything is finalized.

Thank you! It is definitely a relief. I felt very...quiet...after I filed. I was driving down to DS's school to pick him up, and STBXAH called. He was dropping his vehicle off for service, and wanted to know if I would give him a ride home from the shop. My place, his place, and the shop are all within about a mile of one another, so after I picked up DS, we gave STBXAH a quick ride home. It felt very, very weird. I didn't say anything to STBXAH. My plan is to sit down with him and all the paperwork the week after Thanksgiving.
Congrats, sistah! I would have done the same thing--gone home for the checkbook and gone back. When you're on a roll, you need to ROLL.
BTW, I hope he is served AFTER the holiday, just so he can't accuse you of timing it. But if he does, ignore. You did it when you were ready, not a minute sooner or later.

He has agreed to accept service of process from me. In our county, he only needs to sign an acknowledgement of service. However, if he gives me even one ounce of trouble with it, I'll have the sheriff serve him. Either way, I won't be sitting down with him with all of the paperwork until after the holiday.
