A passage from the book Codependant no more. When to detach.

Once again reading the book... I hope this helps some of us who are unsure about what/when.

For each of us, there comes a time to let go. You will know when that time has come. When you have done all that you can do, it is time to detach. Deal with your feelings. Face your fears about losing control. Gain control of yourself and your responsibilities. Free others to be who they are. In so doing, you will set yourself free.

Today I hand my daughter and her addiction over to God. I will have to face my fear of losing control, which will be very difficult for me. But I am desperately looking for the freedom this will give me.

IIeana....if you are interested in a couple of books written by mothers of adult children who are alcoholic....contact me by PM, and I will give you the names.

I think that parents....blood kin....need ongoing support more than anybody...because one can't divorce their genetics. Parents hurt soooo much!
