DTs is not what's happening when your hands shake. DTs is a life-threatening condition, involving hallucinations and other extreme behavior. My second husband had to be put in restraints in the hospital. He was delusional and violent. That's DTs.

Simple withdrawal with hands shaking is much more common, and not dangerous in itself. It passes in a fairly short time but can linger for days/weeks.
