Letting go, if only for today....
Letting go, if only for today....
Let's face it...
Most of us, if not all of us, are hard wired as Codependents and care givers. We focus so much on others that we neglect our own needs.
Needs that define you as YOU. Needs that make you a better YOU.
So lets say that just for today, if only for a moment, you focus on just YOU.
What would you do to take care of yourself???

I walk each morning to help "clear my thoughts". I use this time to deflate, vent in my head, etc. Today, instead of letting that drive me I decided to start jogging again. Instead of focusing on other "stuff" I found that I was able to clear my thoughts and focus only on my breathing.
Personally, I felt more relaxed after my run than I have after a long walk.

I spend a lot of time worrying about my family, and I think it may be a way to not think about my problems, and what I need to do for me. I especially worry about my father who is 61 and drinks daily while dying of congestive heart failure. He also uses a cane, because he shattered his hip while drinking and driving. My brother and sister don't seem concerned with his pain, but it eats me up inside. I have not talked to him the past 9 days, and it is really hard for me. But now I have to focus on my alcoholism not his. Maybe I can lead by example, but I can not make him change so I have to focus my efforts on me for now, and just pray he gets it and quits being in denial before it is to late.
