Don't do it...
Gave Addicted/alcoholic ExBF a third (or was it fourth) chance (against my better judgment) and am now even more heartbroken.... I knew better and yet I went back to familiar, codependent ways. Why do I keep doing this??? I just can't let go a a fantasy.
Don't do it. Don't go back. Save your dreams for someone who deserves them and will respect them.

I think it's a lot like informercials...the longer you listen, the more you become convinced: MAN I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF THESE! that dang Proactive commercial had me wanting to make the call, except that I am a) 54 years old and b) don't HAVE acne. nonetheless I wanted what they promised: Beautiful Clear Smooth Skin.

Lol Anvilhead, I needed that laugh!
Yes, heartbroken and deflated... Just like so many of us here....
Thank you for being there everyone, I'm stronger and wiser, so this time I got out much quicker. Still, it is painful.
Don't do it! Don't fall for the Proactiv infomercial. Your skin is beautiful just the way it is!

Thank you for the experience. I was really beating myself up how I thought again maybe just maybe we could. I am so angry with life today I can't stand it.

I only gave my STBXAH one chance. Only one. Then I said "That's it buddy. You. Are. Out!!!!!
Of course it was one reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllly loooooooooooong chance.
Ghossier, you may be putting to much emphasis on him. When you start putting your emphasis where it belongs, on your own personal growth and development, you may see a break in that repeated cycle.
