Our 3rd Wedding Anniversary

Today, is our 3rd Wedding Anniversary and we are both doing very well.

As some of you know, last year, our life together was on the verge of death tearing us apart due to his motorcycle accident on July 3rd, 2013. You guys were so good to me as he laid in the ICU in critical condition, helping me get through that nightmare while he recovered enough to come home, wound and personal care, all the while he continued to drink, brain injury, bleeding on the brain, brain surgery, money woes, more vodka, him getting sober and then relapsing again. WOW. We went through the wringer and we're both standing on solid ground today.

He's sober! We're both doing well and working together to build upon our marriage and move forward! He told me this morning that I am his best friend and he loves me so much! I can't even tell you all how much I love him!

He has been seeing his therapist every 2 weeks and she is a keeper! He likes her, I love her and she doesn't take his crap and she'll even make calls to the house if he misses his apt which he did once but that was a misunderstanding on our part. I knew he had the apt and so did he but after working a night shift (12hrs for me and 8 hrs for him) we were beat and forgot.

We've been working on projects around the house like a new pool deck. He helped me set the post and start the frame on one side and I finished it off by myself in 2 weekends. This is a gift to me from him because I wanted it and he made it happen. It's not complete as we have a few more things to finish...

Here he is enjoying his pool and raft! He's in the pool daily! This is one of my favorite pics of him in the pool.

I've been tending to our garden too. He tilled it and I planted it and get to weed it.

And, we have been spending a lot of time with our beautiful granddaughter! She comes over weekly for sleep overs and keeps us on our toes!

We've been doing very well even though I haven't been posting much. And my shoulder is on the mend but still gets me if I over do it. So, I have to take it easy and that's hard to do because I'm like full steam ahead! lol

Big changes in your world since last year Box! I'm delighted for you both. Your post gives me some hope for my AH too.

That grand baby if yours is just delicious! How is it that you haven're eaten her up?

xoxo

Here is Lynnie just getting to LaLa n Pappy's house! She was so happy to be here with us!

LaLa gets her a new toy every time she comes over!

Pappy bought her a car for when she comes over! She loves the dogs room. She's always in there when she comes over.

She loves the dogs too. She really likes feeding them her snacks. lol

At first, it was a little crazy with the baby and 3 dogs. She wasn't use to them and they just wanted to lick her! Now she's so happy to see them too.

I am so happy for both of you.
The accident in particular really was a hard yard for you.
Perhaps everything happens for a reason after all.
Keep smiling & recovering together.
Yay, thanks for sharing.

Things are where they should be, FINALLY! I'm living the life I wanted and the one he promised 3 years ago yesterday! I have my daughter back in my life, I have a gorgeous granddaughter I get to corrupt and Jim is well. I couldn't ask for anything more right now.

Although Jim is having issues with his memory, he's pretty healthy and hasn't had any issues with his head injury or bleeding on the brain. He's not taking any more Tylenol for pain or ibuprofen. His short term memory is gone though. We have conversations over and over again and I know it's because of the accident. Names are very hard for him to remember and words. He will sit or stand there and roll his hand forward while he's talking to try and jog his memory and just say forget it. I don't pressure him because it's very frustrating. It's also an unfortunate consequence of his actions. That's life...

We live one day at a time. we went swimming today after he was done weed whacking and then took a nap to get ready for work. On Sunday, we will get to spoil our baby for 2 days! I can't wait!!! I usually give her back all sugared up! I'm LaLa, I'm allowed!

Re the brain injury symptoms, you might check out Dr. Daniel Amen's books ( I think he also has a website). My mom sent me a bunch of his books, not realizing that my ex was an alcoholic. He's done a lot of work with TBI patients. Now that your guy has gotten sober, this type of nutritional and cognitive healing will actually do him some good. The brain can heal after a serious injury, provided the brain's owner isn't continuing to damage it with booze.

BoxinRotz, you and your guy deserve all the best in the world after what you've gone through and survived. You both deserve all the joy in the world! So glad to hear that your daughter and granddaughter are part of your lives now.
