1. I am humble.
2. I am honest
3. I am funny
4. I have tenacity.

1. I have painted for 40 years. If you haven't been in my house to see my work, you wouldn't know.
2. I was very open and honest with AH in the beginning of our marriage. He used that to hurt me in the worst way.
3. My kids and I laugh so much. I'm also very sarcastic. So is dd14 but never mean.
4. Two years ago I took a ceramics class. I have now taken several. Made a studio, and create functional pottery. My kids have watched me throw the same bowl over a hundred times before I decided it was 'good enough.' They don't tell me 'I can't.'

Your children sound wonderful. What about you? From your post we learned that you are a loving mom and also resilient, now list at least 3 more great things about your character

i am a happy person
i am honest
i am trustworthy

now the point for me is why was that hard to do? guess my self caring needs to go a bit deeper..... i tend to see the good in life and others. time to look in the mirror and do the same for myself! thanks carlotta!!!

1. I love my amazing DS and I'm a pretty amazing mom.
2. I'm steadfast.
3. I'm artistic.
4. I'm detail oriented and a hard worker.
5. I love learning new stuff: new crafts, languages, info about other industries, etc. I'd learn every language I could if money and time weren't issues; because, really, learning a new language is learning a new way to look at the world.

1. I've used being a busy single mom as a reason to keep friends at arms' length.
2. I can be downright stubborn. And I had a tendency to stick with rough relationships, both personal and work, for longer than I should have. I'm wondering if now, I've let the pendulum swing the other way and keep people at a distance more than I need to.
3. I don't give myself time to 'play' so my creativity is a sidebar and doesn't get the focus I'd like to give it.
4. I tend to be a perfectionist and get a bit petulant when I'm not allowed to take the time I want to make things exactly right.
5. A downside to learning new stuff.... is there one? Maybe it's that I'd don't always deepen what I learn: a jack of all trades and master of none...

1. I am kind
2. I am easily excitable
3. I am an optimist
4. I am a dreamer
5. I will always bounce back, no matter how long it takes

I'm sure I'm not the only one -- ACoA or otherwise -- who has anxiety attacks over these types of questions. I don't have five. I'm having a hard time coming up with two. I think I need to pick up my Step 4 book and reread it for a bit.

1. I am creative
2. I am punctual
3. I am generous
4. I am resourceful
5. I have an amazing head of red curly hair (like the girl off Brave) and although it's not related to my character it's definitely been a contributer to my confidence, my resilience (getting through bad hair days!) And it reminds me of my roots, my genetic make up passed down from my ancestors who were and are such amazing family who I couldn't live without! My brother even based his first stand up comedy routine on his hair and I laughed til I cried.

Hugs, NW. It took a lot of practice for me to be able to come up with good stuff about myself. When I first left AXH, I couldn't list one. My sister did a page in my journal for me. A smallish journal, but she filled the page for me, and I couldn't find one.

I ended up getting a little notebook, about 3"x4". It's a "Gratitude and Things I did Well" notebook. Every day, I wrote down at least 3 things I was grateful for and at least 1 (and worked my way up to at least 3) things I did well. I don't do it every day any more, but I keep the notebook with me.

Here's a kind of silly one, NWGRITS, and DS would completely agree (Cheese is his favorite): NWGRITS has great taste in cartoons.
((((hugs)))

I really like the idea of "things I did well" today and I think I am going to start doing it. I do gratitude lists and I work the 10th step fairly regularly but when I review my day, I barely think about the things I did well and I always focus on the things I could have done better or whatever screw up happened (thank God I seldom mess up but when I do, I still tend to give myself a severe beating).
I am very harsh on myself ..this is something I am aware of and I need to work on.
A list of things I did well, handled well today sounds like a great tool for me

Thank You

OK here goes!

1) I am honest an caring
2) I am dependable
3) I am good with children and animals
4) I am loyal
5) I am driven and get things done

1) I find that I sometimes hold back if I feel it may hurt the person. I am almost too in-tune to other's feelings. I am learning to focus more on myself instead of others
2) I keep my word, no matter what and sometimes this is at a disadvantage to me and I am the one suffering
3) Nothing bad about this
4)I am very loyal to the point that sometimes I ignore things others do that hurt me and I put others first. I am learning to consider my own needs and put myself first.
5)I am very driven and hardworking but this sometimes is a disadvantage because I am responsible for more than my share at both home and work most of the time and I let it happen.
