Unhappy Just as I predicted

My XABF called me....DRUNK...fresh out of rehab....It made me sad that he hasent learned a thing but on the bright side, him being inside helped me a great deal in my own recovery. It gave me the time I needed to look at myself and start to make some positive changes. I've come a long way, although I did have a little relapse moment. I ran into him at the gas station and bought him a pack of ciggs and put $40 gas in his tank so he can get to a job interview, or so he said. I still have a soft spot for the guy, what can I say.....Who am I kidding, its way more than a soft spot but I know while he is still drinking, I will have no part in this craziness...

you've got a lot more charity than I do. Maybe I'll have to work on that. lol good for you standing your ground and taking the higher road. some people are just not ready until they are ready.

Sober? Did you read my initial post? He drank right after rehab. He was not drinking at the moment but he is far from sober!

Just throwing a suggestion out there ~ most phones have caller ID now - if you see his name & number - maybe allow the call to go to voice mail ~ listen to his message and take a good long healthy "think" before you decide if you really want to talk to him or not.

Just because he calls doesn't mean you have to talk to him. . .

A good friend of mine change her ex's name to "I stole from you" on her phone settings as a reminder when he called so she would know to keep that fresh in her mine when she waivered about talking to her ex.

doesn't mean you have to go that far - but maybe giving yourself some time before talking to him may give you the ability to set up a defense for his well rehearsed pleas

wishing you the best
pink hugs

I am WELL aware of how caller ID works....as a matter of fact, I have his number blocked from my iPhone....He called me at work, from an "unavailable" number (oh, the irony)....

ny point that i hope you were not putting gasoline into an automobile that was being driven by somebody currently under the influence. ie not enabling drunk driving..........

Thanks! It was here in SR that I learned that being "Sober" has nothing really to do with just not drinking.
