I have never heard of anyone getting work driving privleges. Protect yourself as much as you can! I would call your insurance company ad explain everything to make sure you can't be held accountable in any way.
I work in insurance...If he is excluded anything that happens to it while he is driving is NOT COVERED, whether he has a provisional license for work or not.
Also, you can insure a car that isn't yours, the actual owner is listed on another part of the policy.

We don't give legal advice. At least we're not supposed to. And yes, he was drunk when he called-- you already knew that.
Protect yourself, protect your children, and make sure whatever you decide if for that reason only. Do not do anything for him, and do not do what he wants you to do. What he wants is for his benefit only, not yours, and not your children's. But you already knew that too.
