I got a dozen roses today...
I got a dozen roses today. For myself.
I was at the store over my lunch hour and I passed by the flower section. There were so many beautiful bouquets, and I thought "I'd really like to have some to brighten my office." So I picked out the nicest one and I bought it.
There was a time when I would have walked past those same flowers and my thoughts would have been so different:
WORRY:
Why doesn't he buy me flowers?
What have I done wrong?
or What is WRONG with me that he doesn't want to buy me flowers?
ANGER:
I have put up with so much of his BS. I deserve flowers
He should know how much I love flowers, and he should KNOW that buying me flowers would make me happy
And much, much more.
Today, with the help of Al Anon and my SR friends - today I know that I am the best person to take care of me and to meet my needs.
I know what makes me happy, and if I want flowers? I buy them.
What can you do for yourself today to show you that you ARE special and you DO matter? Let's share some ideas here.
PS. I am not the greatest at arranging flowers yet, but I've decided that's another gift I can give myself. I am going to learn how to arrange cut flowers! I can either look on YouTube or Pinterest, or I can sign up for a class!!

I think they look fabulous. The dark against the white roses, contrast.
I love them, and I am delighted they are making you happy, and gave
you the idea to take a class.
I bought some orchids in a small pot at Kroger, they are wonderful!
Amazing intricate blooms at the end of a long straight stem.

Funny true, sad story. I have a coworker that has flowers delivered to herself, sometimes balloons too. They always have a card from her boyfriend.
One morning I was early and in my cube with the lights out, reading as the florescent lights give me a headache sometimes. She didn't know I was there. I heard her order a dozen roses and too balloons, and heard her say to write on the cards "from your love and the puppies". When they came she paraded them around the office and told everyone how lucky she was to have such a thoughtful loving man.
I have never told anyone in the office this, and she doesn't know about her over-heard phone call.

Good for you!! Me....I have been TV-less for two months since moving into my unfurnished rental and didn't want to mess with taking our second huge heavy old tube TV. I bought myself a 40 inch high def flat screen TV, DVD player, sound bar, appropriate cables, universal remote and surge protector today!!

Flowers are funny these days. Oftentimes a guy will buy a girl flowers, and the girl is like, "ok, what did you do?"
I remember one time I was in a store checking out, and some man ahead of me was buying flowers and mumbling about what he does for love.
But yeah, it's good to treat yourself.

Cats Pajamas, good for you, those are beautiful! I love flowers and buy myself a bouquet every week when I go to the market for groceries. I'm on a tight budget but flowers are cheap in Guatemala. I can get a nice bouquet of flowers for around $1.50 U.S. or roses for $2-3.00. I rarely spend money on myself but I make sure to get fresh flowers every week. I get so much enjoyment every time I look at them.
