February 22 in The Little Blue Book ONE DAY at a TIME in AL-ANON

February 22 in The Little Blue Book ONE DAY at a TIME in AL-ANON:

Do I occasionally remind myself that the newcomer to Al-Anon is desperate, lonely and bewildered? When I see a new face at a meeting, and it is my turn to make a comment, do I keep that newcomer in mind, and say something to inspire hope?

Those who are familiar with the Al-Anon language and the Al-Anon concepts are apt to forget that they may increase the newcomer’s bewilderment instead of encouraging him or her to come back to us for help.

Let me cultivate awareness of those around me; it is all the better for me, too, if I clarify my thoughts before I speak.

TODAY’S REMINDER

I want to keep in mind that the Al-Anon therapy is an interchange. The more help I give, the more I get. If I learn to be aware of others and am conscious of their reactions, the practice I get in this way will help me improve my relationships at home, too.

“The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom; the lips of the righteous know what is acceptable.”
