One of the boundaries I have established with my AW is there will be no intimacy if she has had any alcohol. She assumes this is a back door way of me trying to get her to stop, but I just really don't enjoying being intimate with her alcohol induced alter ego.
Last night she came to bed in an amorous mood and reeking of Listerine. I hadn't been around her enough during the the evening to see her actually drinking and normally go by the smell of her breath.
Am I just being paranoid and looking for things that aren't there or is this a common ruse to cover the smell of alcohol on a person's breath?
Other experiences would be helpful.

ugh - i hate mouthwash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my exah would drink mouthwash by the gallons but never brush his teeth
why?
toothpaste doesn't have the alcohol content!
Listerine/Scope, etc. - definite TURN OFF for this woman!!

Just like when we were kids trying to hidde our cigarette smoking from our parents, same tell-tale signs (mints, gum, mouthwash, etc.) if she does not use listerine evey night then I would be very suspicious, also there are alcoholics who drink mouthwash when nothing else is available.

Yes, the more I think about and read the reply's I see that she was intentionally trying to hide her drinking. It's the first time I remember her trying to purposefully deceive me. Not a mile post that I ever wanted to pass.

Oh wow. You are NOT being paranoid. I hated the smell of Listerine for the longest time, and in fact recently found a bottle of it under the bathroom sink...a leftover remnant of my relationship with my exA.
Funny, I was just recently telling someone the story about my exA showing up at my house reeking of vodka with a Listerine rinse. Yuck.
It got too difficult to play the "has there been any drinking or not" game, and too tiring. If I were you I'd just assume there has been drinking going on--it's likely the case.
