Great news!
I just got accepted into the school of my choice for my degree program.
I am happy on one hand, and sad on the other. I want to share this with a close partner.
My mother, Queen Codie, is all unsupportive. I don't know why she hates this news. But she does.
My son is too young to appreciate it much.
RABF said Congrats on the one hand, and then non-plus on the other, since he has a bad cold. With that, I feel good news is squashed.
Some of my friends have said, "yea!" for me, but I don't know what I'm expecting!!
So, HEY, Everyone!! I got some good news today!! My big life change is happening, and I'm excited!!!

Well I think that's awesome and very exciting! And yes, I know the feeling of having good news and no one to share it with...so go celebrate with yourself. Do something nice to show yourself how much you appreciate you!

Thank you ALL. I know you've never met me in person, but you've all known lots of inside information about me for over a year, and I really appreciate the support.
I got all teary-eyed reading your notes. THANK YOU.
At work today, my colleagues were wayyyy excited, so that does help me know I've worked really hard for this. They even wanted to figure out a way to keep me in the department as I move on with my studies. That was a great compliment!!

A compliment indeed! When people around you truly want to support you, they find a way to show it and it sounds like your colleagues want to do that by finding a way for you to stay and study where you are. How wonderful that is!!
I still work on sharing news in my life without betting my emotions on the response. It is a tough lesson for me. I have certain family....like my mom (seems you have a similar mom)...who receives great news by giving a congrats then quickly bringing up all the 'concerns' she has over what the news will mean. Serious killjoy and hard to read true support in it from her. It dampens my spirits over even the best of news.
Seems to me you have the awareness to identify support and seek it out elsewhere when the lack of it wears on you. This is good recovery work!!
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR VICTORY!
