- Don't should on yourself, don't should on others, and don't let others should on you.
- One true love is a myth.
- You didn't cause it, you can't cure it, and you can't control it-- but you can contribute to it.
- Take what you want and leave the rest.
- Mind your own business.
- Ex means ex. Stop engaging and move on.
- It is impossible to keep an alcoholic from drinking. It simply can't be done.
- When people pleasers stop people pleasing, people are not pleased.
I'll stop there. I could go all day.

P.s. I heard most of these in meetings or here on SR. Only a couple are mine.
"just because someone says it ~ doesn't make it true"
"hurting people hurt people"
"alcoholics drink, that's what they do - they do not drink at you or because of you"
(used these to learn about NOT being a victim and not taking the disease of alcoholism/addiction personal - it's not about me!)

Treat people as you wish to be treated! If you want compassion and respect.... Hand it out yourself first!!
Scared, confused and spinning? Feel like you have to do something? Do nothing instead, everything else will just be reactions.

This one isn't from Al-Anon per say, but it's one I try to follow.
"Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity." Mark Twain

It's funny how some of these sayings change character for me over the years. The first time I heard "What other people think of you is really none of your business" I laughed so hard and thought, "how true that is, really" on a "wow I've never thought of it that way" level.
Now, it just makes perfect sense to me. A lot of these sayings have become... really bloody obvious truths. And some still make my brain start sputtering and thinking again. Like this one:
Love that.

Expectations are predetermined resentments.
