Prayers welcome
Prayers welcome
So I arrive home from work (renting a small place at my therapist's home..very convenient) and I find my therapist crying.
Her best friend just died.
He was a drinker - he tolerated a LOT of alcohol. Nay, not "drinker". He was an alcoholic.
Last year he had a paralysis that sent him to the hospital. He was saved. Was advised not to drink again.
According to my therapist, he was too sensitive for this world, felt things with too much intensity, he preferred to be in evasion.
"Just another drink" today sent him to his grave.
I just spent the last hour hugging her and she is crying, crying, crying. I wanted to cry also just realizing how no matter how much anyone knows or 'understands' about alcoholism, the pain is just the same.
The funeral is tomorrow morning. He was 37.
Prayers are welcome for him and his family & friends.

Thanks lillamy. I don't have words either. Very difficult. This disease is horrible.... just horrible. And to realize that is the destination of someone I held in my arms once.... very very sad.
I remember I saw this man in Christmas- very briefly, he came to congratulate the family. He appeared totally normal and healthy. Shocking. Thanks a lot for your thoughts. I really needed the virtual hug.

It never ceases to amaze me how young these drinkers die. I look at my Dad who is in his 70s and I cannot understand how he is still alive.
Thoughts and prayers coming your way TC. So glad you are able to support your friend.
