Red face Got a letter from DSS

This Friday, I received a rather thick enveloppe from my former DSS, XAH's adolescent son. I'd been forbidden from seeing or speaking to him by XAH, but had learned that he recently moved back to Ontario to live with his mother. I heard that things went very badly for DSS when I left XAH, and that he finally decided to tell his father off. For that, I'm so proud of him.

I don't quite know how he's doing emotionally (he's 13, so it's not like he's going to be sharing!), but he asked me to write to him, and said he missed me. My heart just about burst.

He also included a copy of a letter his grandmother, my ex-MIL sent him about his father...but he blanked out a bunch of things which I guessed amounted to "your father is a mean abusive alcoholic". He said he was blanking things out to protect me.

I spent the entire week-end writing and rewriting him a long letter, trying to remember that DSS is 13 and not 25. I did my best to explain things in terms he could understand and told him I'd be very happy if we could keep in touch.

Thank you thank you thank you HP for bringing back my DSS back into my life. I was heartbroken about having left him behind, alone with XAH, and now it seems HP has brought him back into my life. I hope that someday, DD will get to know his boy, because he's just plain awesome.

Awwww, what a sweet kid! I know how much it bothered you that you weren't allowed contact with him by your ex. How nice to know that he cares about you enough to get in touch with you. I'm sure that just made your week!

I am so delighted for you both, and didn't your HP answer this prayer mightily.
Your x thought he had control over you both, and reality is that it is he who is under the thumb.....by his DOC. I wish you all a life of happy times and no more lost contact.

God bless

He is the awesomest! And you, noday, well, I thank HP you were in the boys life, because you obviously had a powerful good effect on him.
Bless his loving heart and yours for being open to him and sharing your life and daughter with him.
Oh no, here come the tears! Geez, I am sappy sometimes.
