Friend of mine was murdered
I found out today that on Monday, a vibrant, beautiful example of recovery, a friend of mine in AA, was murdered by her ex-husband when she went to his apartment to collect her boys after he had watched them for her over the weekend while she went on an all-woman AA float trip. I met her in AA after I mentioned something about going through a painful divorce. She had divorced her ex at roughly the same time I did. She had two young boys who were friends of my daughters, and we frequently did things with the kids today. And yes, the kids were there to witness this carnage. Her ex ended up killing himself when the cops arrived. I am sick, mad, disgusted, grief-stricken, and so ******* angry I want to spit nails. And her husband wasn't an alcoholic, and hadn't ever been violent with her before. In fact, we used to joke that her ex seemed to be handling the divorce a lot better than mine was.
I know there is nothing anyone can say to make me feel better about this, but those of you so inclined, please say a prayer for two beautiful boys who have just had their heart ripped away from them.

Mambo Queen ... I'm so sorry for this tragedy and the loss it is for you and for those little boys and the rest of their family.
I understand this all too well. About 7 years ago, a friend of mine was murdered by her estranged husband, who then killed himself. She was a wonderful woman, and I was just getting to know her. I met her through my daughter, who was best friends with her daughter in middle school. Luckily, the incident did not occur in front of the children, and it still makes me take pause when I think about it. I have remained friends with her family. In fact, my younger daughter went to school with her niece, the daughter of her sister, and we've remained close friends throughout the years. My oldest daughter is still friends with her daughter.
It's a terrible, horrifying, senseless thing, and I am terribly sorry you have to experience this, but even more that those little boys lost their entire world that day. I hope that they can overcome this hole in their lives and go on to lead productive, successful lives in the future. All too often, things like this are an impetus for alcohol and/or drug addiction/abuse later in life.
You and these boys are in my thoughts tonight.

To Where You Are

Who can say for certain
Maybe you’re still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory’s so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You’re still an inspiration
Can it be that you are my forever love
And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight to see you smile
If only for a while, to know you’re there
A breath away’s not far
To where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn’t faith believing
All power can’t be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me, every day
‘Cause you are my forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe that angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight to see you smile
If only for a while, to know you’re there

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers, and Impurrrfect, you are a cat lover obviously, so I thought I would also mention that she had 4 cats (whose fate unfortunately may not be so wonderful) and tonight as I was talking about her to a friend, a kitty came into my backyard...which has never happened before. He ran away before I could offer him a saucer of milk or something, but I'm just going to believe it was my friend.
((((MQueen))))
from experience I know that Grief is the toughest emotion of all.
So very sorry you lost a friend.
There was a purpose her path crossed yours, even if briefly. Cherish that if you can.

My deepest sympathy to you and your girls, and my prayers for you, as you work thru the awful pain this brings.
I will offer my prayers and mass this week for your friend, and her devastated boys.
God bless
