I've heard here and other boards the expression that A's tend to "hoover" and as soon as one goes complete NC with them that is when the true "hoover" begins.....

So my question is this.........What is hoover all about? What does it mean?

Another term for 'manipulation' to keep you "sucked in."

Hoover ........................... as in vacuum cleaner ...........................as in sucking.

I had a best friend who I helped move, buy a house, get her life together, etc... I started going to Alanon and realized I was making her my HP. I decided to make my own life a priority and she would call to see if I could babysit. I had already made plans, so I told her no. Then, I took steps back to really look at the relationship. She called me one day and asked me to come over for lunch. I went over and didn't realize it, but I was being setup to babysit while she made A business call that was actually business calls that lasted a couple hours. Duh! I could kick myself. Then, I noticed how she would give me compliments and my GUT started going off big time! I had never recognized this before until I took a step back. I was so dumb, but am learning.
