It's very true that 12 Step teaching and practice grew out of, among other things, the teachings and practices of The Oxford Group, which was a Christian movement.
But I personally would not decribe the relationship between the two as "derivative," any more than I would say that the New Testement is a "derivative" of the Old Testement or that Christianity is a "derivative" of Judaism....

There's a recovery bible available if you're interested. I have a copy, though I don't read it.
It's a standard bible (not exactly sure which version) with all sorts of footnotes and indexes that take bible passages and apply them to the 12 steps - and vice versa. I'm sure if you search amazon for "recovery bible" you'll find it.
