talked to paternal uncle who felt the dog was well-fed and well-adjusted.

went into As apartment and met the dog. Very friendly to me right away. Tail wagging. There was a big bag of dog food on the counter (Alpo) and plenty of water in her bowl. She has a name. She has a friendly relationship with son. She does not bark - she whines but not loud. Son says he takes her out twice a day to relieve herself and also takes her for walks. I saw a leash right by the door. The house has not been ripped apart by the dog. There are dog toys in there. it does not smell in there.

I told son to watch for signs of her behavior changing now that he is working full-time and she is left home alone for longer stretches. I said if he thought she was not doing well that I would take the dog into my home and try to find a home where she would be with people who are home for longer stretches. He agreed, did not argue.

I think i did all i could do. I feel better about the situation.
